Day 44 of 365: Style Up Shoot Down
Monday, February 13, 2012
I have much more respect for fashion photographers, hair stylists, makeup artists, and models than I've ever have since today. People don't understand the amount of work and time it takes to setup a shoot... so... what was my experience?
One thing I've learned is to have a Plan B. Today the crew wanted to use the Bay Area fog as a background for the shoot. This theme was particularly targeting the more gothic/marie antoinette style, but since the rain had taken over most of San Francisco areas I pitched the idea toward the crew if we could relocate to Berkeley. Earlier I remembered that Berkeley would be a bit dryer than San Francisco. The decision was made... we went ahead and took the shoot in the hills of Berkeley where the weather wouldn't be so sunny, but not so wet.
So, before heading to the new location the crew needed to get the models ready for action. On my first experience Alyssa and the makeup artist only needed to focus on one model. Having about four individuals be the shoot took much longer to get done. But with the crew and good vibes channeling together I think that it didn't necessarily matter how long they took. They were only concerned on getting the job done and getting it done right. It was a great shoot. Long, but was worth the experience.
