Another short one today. Still working through this weather that I'm already exhausted from. Hopefully when things warm up I'll be able to play like the rest of the kids.
LEFT IN THE DARK #5 - ROARIE YUM
I got a chance to meet this person after her shoot and just picked her brain about a lot of things. I can see why people request her for shoots and is a popular demand for many portrait photographers. She is flexible in both artistic and commercial work and has traveled quite far to do these types of shoots.
But when meeting up with her I wasn't really interested in photographing her. I was more into having a conversation rather pointing a camera at her. And I'm sure she was exhausted from all those hours of work she's done. We talked about art, music, experiences and future plans. We got coffee at a Barnes and Noble and she got some ice cream at a Ben and Jerry's. It was a solid meetup and I was happy to meet her. Soon I'll be calling her up and seeing if she wants to do a shoot.

The portrait orientation is probably going to be the thing for this series. I haven't really shot as much as I should so that should change as the weather starts to warm up. Hopefully I'll get in more of that this year.

LEFT IN THE DARK #3 - STEVEN PEREZ
If it wasn't for this person I would probably not be living in the space I live in today. This is person is kind, gentle, hardworking and overall a good person. He's really done a lot in his life and has struggle through so much, but when he triumphs... he triumphs. Thank you Steven forgiving me a roof over my head and a place where I can be creative. You are truly family to me. I couldn't have asked for more.

Currently the project I'm working on is at a steady speed. It's been great being able to photograph and write music as concept. I'm sure a lot of people have done this type of thing, but I've realized that using the Instax medium as well as recording everything at home really hones in the "diary" like feeling. The music isn't some "bedroom-recording-4track" demo that most musicians are apt on doing on their spare time. No.... not this project. The music side will have a great amount of production. Loads of layers and different instrumentation, but still keeping the theme and sound in a certain direction. The photos, all Instax, are black and white and are carefully taken. I can only have two packs of film to work with a month.
Aside from that I'll be blogging these images a month to showcase what I've dealt with along the way. I already have an idea of how I want to present this project. This body of work may be the most important body of work to date. I'm still going to be shooting 35mm film, but first thing I need to tackle is developing all the fucking undeveloped film that I have in a fucking plastic bag. I'm tired of seeing that shit. I'll also be shooting more digital this year as it helps push the fine art practice I need to make everyday. And with that I'm doing the "LEFT IN THE DARK" series which is all black and white portrait photography. They will be posted every Monday. I'm going to try and carefully produce these images as best as I can. I really need to make an effort to edit images and make them look pretty.
That pretty much it on the artists goals. Everything else like being healthy, being financially stable and work hard is still an ongoing process that I try to keep up since last year. Though that last year was a complete mess it definitely was a year of victory and a year of realization. 2018 is going to be a good year. I just fucking know it.

This person has been a big influence in my life and has also support me on things that I needed support on. Through the months of recovery she's been there to guide me to a better path and helped me understand my positives and negatives. I'm certain that my life here on out is going to be a good one. First video of 2018. I think the momentum of at least posting up videos have been nice as of late. I know that I should be putting out some good good content, but not every week is a crazy week for me. Anyway, here's to the new year. I hope things will be better than 2017.
LEFT IN THE DARK #1 - ELLEN ROSE
Happy New Year everyone! It seems as though things have definitely shifted out of control in 2017. I've finally divorced my former partner and am part of a new relationship that may be the last relationship I'll work hard on. And I think that's sort of the theme of what 2018 is going to be this year. Relationships are really an essential part of what I've been thinking about as of late. It could be of another human being, spiritual, or just of ones self to feel centered. And I think I'm going to keep that theme up this year.
I'm going to be dedicating this year to black and white photography. ALL of the images are going to be digital with the exception of my Instax film I'm going to be posting for a concept music project I'm working on. Some of the work will be from last year as well as this year.
